We first showcased Olga Tokarczuk in 2017 with her House of Day, House of Night and she is back in our Book Box with a much-awaited new release. The Books of Jacob was first published in 2014 in Polish and we have been WAITING for it to be translated and released in English. And it's finally here with a U.S. release date of February 2022! A rich, sweeping novel, that is said to be her most ambitious work, The Books of Jacob is set in the mid 18th century, and follows the life of Jacob Frank, a young Jewish man who arrives in a village in Poland.

Suat Dervis' In the Shadow of the Yali

Suat Dervis is one of the leading female authors of Turkish literature. This wonderful novel, set in a changing Istanbul of the1940's, tells the story of forbidden love and of its consequences. The English translation was published in the U.S. last September by Other Press.
